The OPEN.ioting is controlled through a cloud connection, so the gate can be opened and closed from anywhere the mobile phone has an internet connection – there's no range limit as there would be with a traditional remote control.

An unlimited number of OPEN.ioting devices can be managed from a single app account, so even several properties (for example, the gate at home and at the holiday home) can be supervised easily in one place. The app is available in English, Hungarian, German, Spanish, French, Dutch and Czech, as well as in dark and light mode.

The gate can be controlled from an Apple Watch with a single tap, so there's no need to take out the phone. On iPhone, the OPEN.ioting shortcut can be added to the home screen, and a Siri command can also be set up.

In the car, the gate can also be opened and closed with a voice command through Apple CarPlay, providing a convenient and safe solution while driving.

The OPEN.ioting is compatible with the Alexa and Google Home smart home systems, so the gate can also be opened and closed with a simple voice command, fitting in with smart home devices you already have.

With the built-in Geofencing feature on iOS devices, the gate opens automatically as the user approaches it along their usual route – there's no need to open the app manually.

The OPEN.ioting has 2 relay outputs. These don't control two separate gates, but offer two ways of connecting to the same gate:

• "open – stop – close" (STEP BY STEP) control with a single relay,
• or a separate relay for opening and a separate relay for closing.

The device is also brand- and model-independent, and can be connected to any gate control electronics that has an external control input. We recommend the OPEN.ioting for controlling a single gate.

The device's separate (S3) input allows a push button or the receiver of an existing remote control to be wired in parallel alongside the OPEN.ioting. This means the gate can still be opened with a traditional remote control by those who don't use a smartphone or the app.

The owner can grant access to additional users (e.g. family members, colleagues) with an email invitation, and can easily revoke it at any time. 50 users can be added per device free of charge, and the capacity can be expanded to 100 or 500 users for a one-time fee.

Ownership can also be transferred to another user, which is especially useful in case of a change of ownership or a move.

On iOS devices, the owner can also send reusable "keys" by email, which let the gate be opened by clicking the link in the email – with no need to install the app. This is a convenient solution for occasional guests or partners who rarely need access.

With limit switches connected, the app shows the gate's open or closed status in real time. If the gate stops between the two end positions, the app indicates this with a warning icon, and without a limit switch, a short animation illustrates the opening process.

With limit switches in use, you can set the number of minutes after which the app sends a push notification if the gate remains open longer than expected. The device doesn't use a SIM card, so the notification arrives as a push message, not as an SMS or a phone call.

On iOS devices, the owner can look back in the app to see who opened the gate and when, making access more transparent when there are several users.

The OPEN.ioting protects data traffic between the mobile device and the gate control module with 2048-bit RSA encryption. The device holds ISO 9001, CE, RED and RoHS certifications.

1. The installer connects the module to the gate or barrier control electronics, then connects it to a WiFi network or via an Ethernet (LAN) cable.
2. The owner installs the mobile app and adds the device to their account.
3. They configure the inputs (e.g. limit switches) and the output control mode, and invite additional users if needed.
4. Users can open the gate with the mobile app, with the Apple Watch, with a voice command, or – via the S3 input – with a traditional remote control or push button.
5. With a limit switch fitted, the app continuously shows the gate's status and sends a notification if it's left open.

The OPEN.ioting can only be programmed through the mobile app; it doesn't come with any separate PC configuration software. For commissioning, it's enough for both the phone and the device to have an internet connection during installation; after that, a local network connection is enough for day-to-day operation.

The module has a built-in power supply (85–265 VAC / 47–63 Hz, or 48 V PoE), can be mounted on a DIN rail, and works with a DHCP connection, without needing a fixed IP address. The WiFi connection operates on the 2.4 GHz band, so it cannot be connected to 5 GHz networks.

The OPEN.ioting 230VAC is a good choice if 230V mains voltage is directly available at the gate control cabinet, or if you want to use PoE power. If the gate control electronics already provides its own 12-24V AC/DC auxiliary voltage and you want to power the module from that without a separate mains connection, it's worth choosing the OPEN.ioting POWER 12-24V version instead.

The device's warranty is 2 years, counted from the first registration. After the warranty expires, an optional, paid "feature subscription" service is also available, which gives the device access to future new features as well. Without this feature subscription, only bug fixes are provided in the mobile app after the warranty expires.
